Jarrod Radnich's performance of his virtuosic-level piano solo arrangement is a long-time Christmas favorite. It is filled with percussive piano effects, entrancing rhythms, and the incredible virtuosic technique for which Jarrod Radnich is best known.
Patterned after the widely-popular Little Drummer Boy (Carol of the Drums) transcribed by Katherine Davis in 1941, this new arrangement actually returns the listener to the more traditional Czech musical themes and grand scales as were found in the 13th Century when King Wenceslas II organized the first major European musical event and included music believed to be the origin of this carol’s melody. That event was to draw the attention of all of Europe and was the predecessor to what we now, seven-hundred years later, call the competitions of the Prague Spring Festival. This arrangement returns to its origins and rightfully places its emphasis on percussion and rhythm.
